stoli - you look to not be too passive, both pre- and postflop

Thanks for reposting this with a thumbnail. Your OP was far too unwieldly.

You're not aggressive enough. You don't raise nearly enough preflop, particularly blind steals. You could probably stand to bump up your postflop aggression, too. Respond to some hands, especially those where people are saying raise or bet where you'd check or call. Make sure you get a good explanation.

These were my thoughts as well, with a little added in. Sometimes people have low aggression factors on the flop because the check/call when they should bet or check/fold instead.

Default Re: 10k hand check up .50/1

My last 11K hands

hands 10,965
vpip 15.63
raised pre flop 5.69
saw flop all hands 20.44
won $ when saw flop 27.4
att. to steal blinds 22.26
went to showdown 27.4
won $ at SD 61.07
aggression (ex preflop) 1.27
folded to river bet 38.66

My goals for the next 10K hands are...

1. Get vpip to closer to 17%
2. Stop folding on the river so much - 60+% won $ at SD is too high. I'm folding winners
3. Blind steals to over 25%

Any comments appreciated

Didn't mention in my initial post that this is full ring .5/1

4. Get PFR up to at least 8.
5. Get much much more aggressive post flop.
6. Value bet the river more.

What level is this at? Even 17 VP$IP is pretty tight for most micros.

Ah yes, I should have mentioned that this is .5/1 full ring and mostly at 9 max tables

A 17 vpip is lower than most of us would have at 9 person ring tables, but not unreasonably low. 15 is as low as I would want to get there, generally speaking. I think a goal of bumping it up from 15 to 17 is reasonable and conservative. pfr should probably be around 9 (in the 10-8 range) with a 17 vpip.

Yikes. In that case, 19 or 20 would be a more reasonable goal. Don't push it, though. You don't want to be playing more hands just for the sake of playing more hands.

The ones you're missing are not hugely +EV. They're all the borderline ones that require some skill postflop. You might try looking through some hands you've played, and looking for more places to overlimp with Axs, J9s, small PP, or other drawing hands. You might also look for some of those same hands in LP if it's ever folded to you. (Does that happen at 0.5/1 9max?) There are situations where a hand like J9s should get folded in EP, limped in MP, and raised in LP. It all depends on the table texture and opponents.

I'm rambling, though. I suggest looking through some hands you've played and looking through other hands here. You can find a lot of information about preflop just by looking at the hands that are posted here. (At least the real ones - not the "I flopped quads and how much can I get from it" hands.)

Good luck.

EDIT: In reference to Greg's post - I should have been more clear. The 17 is a good goal, and higher might be fine, too. There is no perfect number, and as I mentioned - the hands you'd be adding are not easy to play. Just dumping them is fine for now.

Default Adjusting game from .5/$1 to $1/$2

I started playing limit .5/$1. While playing at this level, I began picking up and reading SSH and other recommended books. I think I did well at this level, and I in July I moved up to $1/$2. Since then, all I've experienced are $100-$300 swings, making no real progress. If it weren't for site bonuses and tournaments, my bankroll hasn't really budged. So I'm looking for any glaring holes in my game. I realized one of my holes was playing KQo badly (it's by far my worst losing hand). Any other recommendations?

Thanks

You're playing quite loose, and your aggression is low. Raise more preflop. Respond to hands in the forum more.
