Some people are attracted to the excitement and danger of gambling. Other people are turned off by the immaturity, uncertainty, and risk that comes with gambling.

If I was a woman, I would definately prefer a man making $50k doing construction than a man making $50k playing poker. Imagine the stress of a 3 month breakeven streak when you have two children. Her response seems pretty normal and I would think that you are being a little closeminded here.

If a woman cares at all about how much you make it's not unreasonable for her to be concerned about the volatility of your income. There is a big difference between winning 50K in a given year and making a 50K salary.

It's pretty difficult to fall off the high steel in online poker. Stability &gt; voltaility for most people, I suppose.

Although I wouldn't have believed it, I have encountered the same lack of understanding from friends. They don't play poker, have never really looked into what it's really all about, and thus don't see quite what it's all about. I understand the OP's reaction, but they just don't "get it".

Please explain how I come off as an "arrogant retard." I am not arrogant about poker at all. If it is the baller comment, it was a joke. That is where the gay smiley face comes in.

I also didn't explain poker for a living to her. IMO, thats almost impossible to someone who doesn't play therefore I rarely try.
