Thse are two different words, sherbet and sorbet.

Omfg I was all ready to post this exact thing, except what changed it for me, was my mother making fun of me for like two days for saying "aw-ree". I saw it in a Gary Larson cartoon, understood the meaning, but [censored] up the pronounciation.

That is why I came into this thread. I actually thought that the correct pronunciation and the phoenetic pronunciation were two different words.... I used to be retarded.
