Direct red card for a push?.Is this standard in soccer?

[/ QUOTE ]

he had a yellow earlier didn't he?

[/ QUOTE ]

no, it was straight red, which was standard for what he did

[/ QUOTE ]

meh, red there is harsh. it wasn't clear that he purposely kicked him. it might have been a yellow, and then Rooney pushed Ronaldo, compounding the foul and turning the yellow into a red.

that didn't look like a red to me. I don't think he purposely stepped on carvalho

[/ QUOTE ]

He didn't purposely put his foot there. But once it was there and he saw it, he clearly extended his leg downward and with force.

[/ QUOTE ]

during that entire split second of him also falling down from the tackle, please. Everytime Wayne has done something stupid he has had time to think about how stupid it will be and go ahead with it

The ref wasn't going for a card until Rooney pushed Ronaldo which was at worst a yellow.

How so? Portugal Holland game was terrible. Ref in the ARG game yesterday was more than a tad one sided and gave Maxi Rodriguez a yellow for diving late in the game when he should have received a PK. Australia got jobbed. Even though it went my way, Mexico got jobbed late in the first half when Heinze (maybe Ayala, can't remember) should have received a red for his bad tackle that prevented a Mexico break-a-way. Or were you refering to the possiblity that it might not have been well reffed in the pool play?
