I believe the accepted wisdom there is that he didn't know what he was endorsing, and that he was just being his usual accomodating self to a group that seemed to have the Mets' blessing (they were on the field with their camera prior to a game).

The real bonehead play in that fiasco came from the Mets and SNY, since the ad was aired in the middle of live broadcast of a game. How did that slip by everyone?

People hate the Yankees now just because it's the cool thing to do. All these casual fans love the Red Sox, and hate the Yankees, and think they're cool. It's quite annoying.

the funny thing is that I don't really hate an baseball teams. I hate soccer teams, football teams, and basketball teams... no baseball hate.

Joe 6 Pick has hated the Yankees for a long long time

if anything the Red Sox hate has increased in recent years

Dan Shaughnessy is the embodiment of the annoying Red Sox fan. I hate that guy, and it's probably fueled my annoyance with the Red Sox.
