I've seen Greg Maddux throw thousands of pitches over hundreds of games, his fastball was consistently 92-93 MPH, reaching as high as 95, and as low as 86(high 70's on his slider low 70's with his change). He changed speeds as well as any pitcher in history. But he was a good athletic pitcher.
I would agree with guys like Bill Russell, everyone that played with him talks about his intensity, his refusal to lose, how he dominated in the most crucial spots. The same could be said for a guy like Jordan, but he was clearly superior in terms of athleticism. Tiger and Federer have more talent than anyone in their sport, sure they use it well, but give me someone that isn't the biggest, strongest, fastest and still dominates for this argument. |

[ QUOTE ]
Michael Jordan. Bob Costas called him "the greatest over-achiever in the history of sports". Other guys are better athletes, but none have been able to touch him on the court. [/ QUOTE ] Bob Costas is an idiot if he said that. |
