Re: No more Jman on Cardrunners?
a) jman's video is the best there is on the site.
b) aba's first video was also very good; Taylors videos are also generally good. c) The most recent aba's videos were kind of letdowns. d) Still cardrunners is a very good site and one jman video is a lot better than no jman videos at all. e) It's a lot easier to critique than it is to fix/make things. |

Re: No more Jman on Cardrunners?
These expert pro (Jman,Green Plastic, srugby etc) videos drive me crazy. They have conflicting advice and about half the time the pros seem to end up the session with a loss to lower level players. For example, Jman (10/20NL 2 6max table ~1 hr) seemed to get his money in bad several times, opened raised with Q8s and A5o, cold called a lot, implied that limping was okay even on the button, and quickly lost ~2 full buy-ins. Was all that "correct"? In his defence, Jman was the best speaker of all the pros. The other pros have similar played videos so I don't mean to single him out. I realize that they are big winners, so I wonder what is going on? Maybe they play differently when -not- recorded. Maybe poker is too complex to explain "on the go". I guess I still would like to see the videos out of curiousity, but I'm not sure I want to copy what they do in them.

Re: No more Jman on Cardrunners?
Pokerlogist, I agree, it's very surprising that good players lose in the videos. If it weren't for luck I would win every time. So would Phil Hellmuth.
Basically what I do is I first watch the last 2 minutes of a video. If in conclusion the pro says "I ended down two buyins" I watch this video as an example of what not to do. If in conclusion he says "I ended up three buyins" that's a video to learn from. Try that out. |

Re: No more Jman on Cardrunners?
just adding that Jmans video was very good. He really put a lot of analyses into it despite 2 tabling and not playing that many hand):

"Open raised with q8s" Yeah, people who do this are awful.

Re: No more Jman on Cardrunners?
100-150hand sessions
even if your winrate was 15ptbb, you'd be down very often over a session like that |

Re: No more Jman on Cardrunners?
I'm surprised Stinger hasn't been mentioned as one of the top pros on CR. I like his game a lot and I almost always learn something from him. He also tends to make them longer than the other pros which is another bonus. GP always "has to go somewhere" or blah blah blah "I'm gonna have to end this video"...

Taylor's videos are always short and the quality is poor. I much prefer when Friday/Saturday videos are from either Brian. |
