Re: Dealing with moron neighbors
When did telling kids "No" become such an awful thing?
Pretty much every generation for the last 3K years has insisted that "kids today" have gotten much worse than their predecessors. That's a load of crap, but I think it's pretty obvious that parents have gotten an awful lot worse. |

I think it's pretty obvious that parents have gotten an awful lot worse. [/ QUOTE ] My mother firmly believes this. She has all kinds of horror stories from her co-workers about how they dump their kids in front of the TV for hours on end if they ever need to get something done. |

Re: Dealing with moron neighbors
Well, let me restate that.. With the advances in psychology and child rearing knowledge I think the good parents are better than ever. And I think the really bad parents generally aren't as bad and are fewer because smacking your kids around is so much less acceptable.
However, I think the average parent is pretty bad. And particularly there's a problem with "A little knowledge is a dangerous thing". Parents who are so terrified of being abusive or just being unliked that they are unable to instill any discipline whatsover. |

[ QUOTE ] Parents and people above 30 agree with OP. People under 30 without children do not. [/ QUOTE ] more like parents with a gross and distorted sense of entitlement willing to gamble with their kids' lives agree with OP everybody else thinks he's an idiot. there are plenty of parents in this thread telling OP he's a [censored] moron [/ QUOTE ] NT, you flip-flopping flip-flopper... [ QUOTE ] if it was me i would just blow it off and not talk to the woman anymore. if there was someone who was a repeat offender and was really being dangerous (i.e. you're not just being a nit, i have no reason to believe you are but that disclaimer is necessary) then i would consider complaining to the cops and having them nail somebody next time they blow through the sign. [/ QUOTE ] wow, from that to martial law on the culdesac and calling people morons while defending idiots. well done. |

Re: Dealing with moron neighbors
27, this might seem crazy to you, but one is allowed to incorporate further information as it becomes available and revise one's opinion.
i said i would consider calling the cops if someone was doing something really dangerous. rolling stop signs or going the speed limit don't qualify in my book. furthermore, the OP went on to state 1 he has a right to be in the road (wrong) 2 cars going the speed limit constitute a hazard to his kids (then why are they in the road?) this made it clear that he had a ridiculous sense of entitlement and is unwilling to revise it even when it places his kids in danger. and wtf are you talking about 'martial law'? do you read what you type before you post? |

27off, your Cliff notes are way off.
We've had more than one 30+ parent chime in to express dismay at some of OP's attitudes. |
