LAG 25/20 and bigger

meeeh. I don't concider 25/20 being LAG. Not even 28/25. It's more TAG then LAG.

[/ QUOTE ]
if 28/25 isn't lag i'm wondering what you think a good lag plays at

To elaborate, I think that I had about peaked as to what I could expect as a regular tournament player, and it wasn't enough money and the variance was too much. The only way to counter it is to play tons of small tournaments, but that requires huge time commitments. I wanted to make better, more consistent money; I want to be able to play for a half hour or hour at a time if that's all I feel like playing; and last but not least, I want to actually get better at poker, and starting out in HU cash games, I feel like my ceiling is high.

I'm already making about as good money as I would have as a tourney regular, but probably in fewer hours, with less variance, and I'm going to be moving up soon, and consistently (I hope). The only thing I'm missing out on is the opportunity for a really big score, but I'll probably start playing some of the big tournaments again eventually. (I made a promise that I wouldn't subject myself to a single tournament this month, though.)

You have a great opportunity to be one of those hybrid players. Something I try out from time to time. Like playing 4 tables of cash at once and 2 tables of MTT's. (or 5 and 1, or w/e). I do it sometimes when I want to put in longer cash game session and have had a couple nice cashes that make it worthwhile. And I'm a tourney n00b while your are expurt.

28/25 is clearly lag...nobody plays that though. some common ones that border on tag/lag are 23/18, 24/20, 25/21, 27/22, 30/24.

then there's like poly_baller who is 30/20 and there are people who are like 21/20 but they are oddities.

***NEW QUESTION*** What are the professions for non-students/freeloaders? I'm a teacher, which makes me a full time player in the summer. I like grinding out for a few months and then playing a few hours each night during the school year (home by 3:30!)...and ofcourse reading 2+2 all day on the school server

I'm a compiler engineer during the day. Age 36.

I play about 21/19 and consider that to be on the slightly tight side of TAG. Anything below 18 VPIP I consider nittish. Above 25/20 or so is LAG. Just my opinion, of course.

What kind of music do you play? I'm a jazz musician in addition to teaching. I play drums and have a master's in jazz performance. However, I've been playing more poker than jazz for a while now (more $$$)

you play lag with <25 buyins? wow, that's some agressive bankroll management

The people I know that play LAG (and are decent players) have like 10buyin swings twice every month.

[/ QUOTE ]

ive just come off a near 10 buyin downswing and i had to cash out some of my roll. usually i have about 35 bi's
