Re: Tony Mejia ranks the top 50 current NBA players
Irish,
Yes, that's my feeling as well. Read the whole thread where I slurp Kidd while everyone else thinks he's way overrated. I think the article's placement of Vince (26) is better, but once you get to 22, 22-30 isn't much of a difference. |

Re: Tony Mejia ranks the top 50 current NBA players
This is true. Outside the top 15 or 20, they're largely interchangeable in groups of 10 or so.
Kidd was a top 10 player in the NBA last year...don't know about this year or into the future, but he controls a game like maybe only 2-3 other guys in the NBA imo. You could plug him onto most other NBA teams and he'd (a) completely change their offense for the better and (b) add anywhere from 5-10 wins (which is massive). |

Re: Tony Mejia ranks the top 50 current NBA players
i don't agree with people who think there's any chance boozer won't maintain or get better. pounding the boards, getting putbacks and hitting 15 footers is not the kind of stuff that comes and goes. he drastically changed his offseason training regimen 2 summers ago and he's become a different player from the guy he was in cleveland. he's a lock top tennish guy.

Re: Tony Mejia ranks the top 50 current NBA players
He's entering his 6th year as a full-time starter and you think he can get better than 20/12 shooting 56% from the floor? C'mon now...
He's below-average defensively, does nothing to bother anyone's shot and is a below-average FT shooter. No way is he a top 10 player. Not even close. Top 10 guys should dominate/control the game on offense (he's not even in the ballpark here) or be impact offense players who are high-level defenders. |

(i also hate duke and the jazz) [/ QUOTE ] I don't necessarily disagree. Last year could've been a breakout year. But I don't see why you're dismissing the possibility that it was just a fluke year. Are you really suggesting that nobody whose game relies upon crashing the boards, getting putbacks, and hitting 15 footers has ever had a year that was way above their other years and then come back down to earth the next year before??? Boozer's numbers the past 4 years: 03-04: 15.5 points, 11.4 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 52.3% shooting 04-05: 17.8 points, 9.0 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 52.1% shooting 05-06: 16.3 points, 8.6 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 54.9% shooting 06-07: 20.9 points, 11.7 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 56.1% shooting Viewing this, would it really be that much of a surprise if Boozer fell back to 18 points, 10 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 54% shooting next year? YOu want a good example? Take a look at Elton Brand's 05-06 year...the previous two years he had averaged 20.0 points exactly and he had never before averaged more than 20.1. Then all of a sudden in 05-06 he put up just under 25 points per game with the highest FG% of his career. What happened the next year? Back down to 20.5 ppg. And after the 05-06 season everyone was way overrating Brand, talking about him as a mvp candidate and one of the top players in the league. All I'm saying is that I want to see more than one year from the guy before he goes higher on my list. |

Re: Tony Mejia ranks the top 50 current NBA players
I feel like I'm in bizzaro world anytime Juan Dixon gets mentioned in this forum, and I can't figure out who is trying to out-level who.
First off, yes I did live in Maryland many years ago. I moved to NY in 2000 and I now live in Vegas. This has absolutely no bearing on my view. I don't really know what else to say....just watch the vid man: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hishly-IYyk |
