For the reasons Colleges run major football programs (money and publicity), you can't really ask for a better result than to be on national TV January 1st and pull in $10 million or whatever. People might miss this because it was at the bottom of page one and it was a link, but from the blog NozeCandy linked:
" All told there are fifteen seniors on the Notre Dame two-deep... *** Michigan has nine scholarship seniors. Ohio State... lists all of five seniors on their entire two-deep... Three of the five seniors are fullbacks. "

ND goes to BCS games and gets humiliated because they've never deserved to go to a BCS game. Because of who ND was, they get over rated and their fans are arrogant. Every year their schedule is loaded with creampuffs. So they dump a coach after three years ( which they never used to do) to hire this "genius", who hasnt yet proven he can be a successful head coach at any level. It's hilarious to listen to delusional ND fans who believe ND is still a premier program despite not winning a bowl game in a decade.
I had a tear in my eye watching ESPN today as some young ND student said if they can just keep the streak against Navy going. Good, good, fun.

I agree Notre Dame tends to be overrated, but the last 3 years their strength of schedule ranked #5, #14 and #18 according to Sagarin.
