Impact speed was about 38 mph. That slight slope made all the difference in him not being seriously injured, although a bruised liver, lung, vertebre stress fractures, and a hand fracture is not exactly uninjured.
As one doctor said, whoever let him walk off was seriously not doing their job. He needed to be in a neck collar and strapped to a back board immediately, but I guess that's too wussy for the X Games. |
