Is betting more than half your stack a good thing?

Is putting more pressure on your opponents, making more difficult decisions for them and easier decisions for you on later streets a good thing?

These are what I mean by "standard" - pressuring opponents and trying to make easier decisions for yourself, and not making a pot committing bet leaving less than half your stack behind in a huge pot.

Dr. Fells is in the final 8 of the $5K HU event today. I don't think he's 2p2 but he's kind of a known HU SNG player. He's a great player and a class act. His name IRL is Keith Block.
