Re: *official 2007 red sox thread*
As I alluded to earlier, the most amazing thing I think is the fact that the Sox longest winning streak is 5 games. Pretty much every other contending team in either division has at least a 6 game winning streak (and some with 7 or 8). The Sox have been consistent, but they really haven't broken out. I'd love to see them sweep the Padres and Mariners and really put some more distance between them and the Yankees.

Drew's hurt. Shocking. Schilling to the DL. Call Gabbard back up, or have Delcarmen start? [/ QUOTE ] Theo was very wise to leave the rotation in tact when lester finished his rehab. Rare that you go through the season without one of your starters getting nicked. If they had done what a lot of fans were clamoring for(not necessarily guys on this board so dont y'all get all defensive), Tavarez would have been sent to the pen and now he would have to get used to starting again. But he wisely left it alone and my man has settled into a nice groove, 7 straight starts without a loss. |

Re: *official 2007 red sox thread*
My Man Tavares once again makes me look foolish for everything I've ever said about him.
I hope I get to repeat this post at least a dozen more times this year. |

[/ QUOTE ] So would I, since I am going to see them this weekend [/brag] . Ticket prices weren't too bad, considering they had to have a lottery for the tickets at the beginning of the season (maybe pre-season) due to anticipating (correctly) the game selling out. For Friday's game the tickets were only $10 more than face value (each), Saturday's was $15 more, and Sunday's was $20 more. craig |

Re: *official 2007 red sox thread*
Just noticed this as the Yankee/Red Sox threads are together now. The race for the longest thread is very very close. Yankee thread: 12447 views, 1035 posts. Red Sox thread: 13214 views, 1056 posts.
Too bad for Yankee fans the actual teams aren't that close. |

Re: *official 2007 red sox thread*
Just watched a few select innings on the mlb.com site, where they give us the San Diego announcers.
As I watched Papelbon work the 9th, I wondered if they mic the crowd differently, or if it really sounded like a playoff game at the ballpark. The announcers assured me that I wasn't mistaken: "This sounds like Trevor Hoffman should be in the game and it's the top of the ninth. Listen to the Red Sox fans making noise here at Petco! My goodness, this is amazing. And Padres fans watching tonight, don't feel bad, because Red Sox fans have been doing this for years. They do it at Anaheim, they'd do it if this was a Dodger Stadium series..." "Gotta keep reminding myself that its June 22nd, and not September 22nd, because there is such a fantastic atmosphere in this ballpark tonight. One that we know will continue through tomorrow and Sunday..." |

Re: *official 2007 red sox thread*
I've been to a game in Petco, around 7 years ago after I graduated HS and my sis was living in San Diego. Let's just say that while SD fans are supportive, it's a whole different ball game out there than it is back east. Plus, every non-broke[censored] from NE who hates the cold moves to SD. There's just a ton of east coast transplants out here, and Cali folk just don't take their sports as seriously (and I don't blame them).
I honestly considered taking the 8 hour drive this weekend to catch a game until I found out they were sold out. |
