A friend says that 3 weeks is too soon to say the three words. Thoughts? [/ QUOTE ] If you think you're in love after 3 weeks I daresay you don't know what it means to be in love. |

You want love?
You want devotion? I give to you one of the least hetero scenes in popular fiction: [ QUOTE ] "Safe, if you lay close to me. I'd be dearly glad to see you have a sleep. I'd keep watch over you; and anyway, if you lay near, with my arm round you, no one could come pawing you without your Sam knowing it." "Sleep!" said Frodo and sighed, as if out of a desert he had seen a mirage of cool green. "Yes, even here I could sleep". "Sleep then, master! Lay your head in my lap". [/ QUOTE ] |

[/ QUOTE ] lol what bollocks. The word love does not have a precisely defined semantic meaning for a start. [/ QUOTE ] If you want to say that you can be "in love" in 3 weeks because you define the feelings you have at this moment as "love" then fine. That's an argument that can't be debated. Its true that nobody can tell you when you're in love. You just know it. But here's a test. Would you kill, die, or accept life without parole for this person? If yes, there's a good chance you're in love. If the answer is no, or if you need clarification of the circumstances, there's a good chance the feelings you have are not love but something else. |

I feel so lost in my intro to Comp Sci class..feel like everyone has been doing this for years [/ QUOTE ] Well in all honesty, there's a good chance most have. But it doesn't really mater. The important thing is to just not get discouraged. CS guys in particular seem to have huge problems with small dick syndrome. They just can't ever admit when they don't something, and have to convince everybody else they know everything on top of that as well. Can't be daunting if you're new to the field. My girlfriend became a CS major her 3rd year of college with zero programming/CS experience. Her classmate's [censored]/arrogance nearly resulted her in dropping out of the major as she just felt so far out of their league. It really took alot of encouragement to keep her going. She's graduating this year and is far ahead of her/our peers in skill and knowledge. After a few semesters their arrogance starts to come back to bite them in the ass. Its not so easy to learn when you've spent a year convincing yourself (and anybody who will listen) that you do indeed know everything about CS. The entertainment really starts about the first time you get to your first low level architecture / assembly type class. It really sucks that CS 'culture' often pushes people like you (and her) out of the field. Keep with it. It's much less daunting than it seems at first. Most importantly - just don't pay any heed to your class mates' egos. Make it through your first few introductory level classes, and everything's going to start getting much easier for you - just about the same time it's going to start getting much much more challenging for your peers. ...close enough to mixing emo and CS? |
