Default Re: Official \"it\'s not too early to start talking about Fantasy Footba

two part question: first pick in 10 man draft. 6pts for td ,1pt for 10 yds rec/rush 1 pt for 25 yds pass, .5 points for rec. my team ended up looking like this:
qbs-palmer, kitna
rbs-lt, deuce mcallister, julius jones, ronnie brown, marshawn lynch, michael turner
wrs-reggie brown, drew bennet, matt jones, mike furrey
te-ben watson
k-jeff wilkens
def-cowboys

you must start 1 qb, 1 rb, 2 wr, 1 te, 1 k, 1 def, with 2 flex spots fillable by rbs, wrs, or a te. how did i do?

my second question has to do with my wr situation. recognizing that i was lacking a big name wr i traded ronnie brown and marshawn lynch for chester taylor and marvin harrison. i figured i had to take advantage of the opportunity to grab harrison, but did i give up too much?

1. (3) Larry Johnson RB - I would have went with Gore but this is a solid pick.
2. (18) Brandon Jacobs RB - I honestly think this is too high for him. Not sure who was available.
3. (23) Steve Smith WR -Fine, probally a little higher than he usually goes so good value.
4. (38) Anquan Boldin WR -Fine, hopefully he starts getting more TDs.
5. (43) Marc Bulger QB -Fine.
6. (58) Jerricho Cotchery WR -He played well last year, not exactly sure about him. In ESPN leagues he was picked 85th, but you have a different scoring system.
7. (63) Tony Romo QB -I guess since this is a 2 QB league this is fine, otherwise I'd object. For value this is fine.
8. (78) Benjamin Watson TE - Little high for this guy, not sure what other TEs are available, but Brady spreads it and he has some people to throw to this season.
9. (83) Julius Jones RB -Probally a solid value pick.
10. (98) Adalius Thomas DL - Not sure about defensive players.
11. (103) Michael Turner RB -Any other #1s available. If he doesn't play much he's not worth much. Not going to go over the rest, your defensive players are probally fine.
12. (118) Lofa Tatupu DL
13. (123) Rashean Mathis DB
14. (138) Kirk Morrison DL
15. (143) Cato June DL

Benson is my biggest worry since I hate him to death. But at the pick I don't see how he isn't good value. I think we would've taken Fitz had he fallen one more spot, but with him gone, Benson was the best available choice IMO. Would you have gone WR even with the top 5 or so gone? Obviously at the time we couldn't know that we'd get so much quality RB depth so late.

[/ QUOTE ]

I know what you are saying, it just turned into an ugly situation with other RBs being available later. I think I probably would have gone WR there, and then looked for Thomas Jones, Cadillac Williams, or what you got in Ahman and Fred Taylor. But then you wouldnt have gotten Gates probably. I dont think you did anything wrong, it just turned into a worse looking pick than it was at the time.

Is this a head to head league? Why not add pennington since you have the 2 wrs? Kevin Jones, Tatum Bell, or a defense would have been nice instead of Delhomme. These other teams are just so bad that it probably wont matter.

Delhomme works really well matchup wise opposite Leinart. Both have very soft schedules. It was him or Alex Smith.

lactic,

no point in taking defensive players that early. You can take a guy like Kirk Morrison (Raiders) who will put up similar numbers to any LB in the last round. Taking Ray Lewis wayyyyy too early, no matter what other people were doing. Looks like good tackling corners like Antoine Winfield, Bailey, or Ronde Barber would be great in this format, or guys like Adrian Wilson and Sean Taylor. But there will always be guys available that will put up similar if not better numbers than the big name defensive guys, like Lewis and Taylor.

Great pick with Galloway, but you really need people for the flex spots. I would have been taking RBs way more often than you, this format is also awful for QBs with only 4 pts for TDs and -2 for picks. You would want RBs for your flex spots. Fred taylor was available in the 19th round! I dont think your team is any better or worse than the others.

I like Smith then. I forgot you said that though.

capone,

So pretty much I took 95% of my guys too high. That's how I like to draft!

Thanks for the feedback, though. I have two more drafts coming up, and I never do well in this league that I've already drafted, so I'm glad I had that as a practice run.

Kyro,

Return yards get you points. Take return men that start on defense, like Terence McGee or Justin Miller. This is a confusing format, 10 points for a blocked kick? That seems kind of dumb. Again, I would have waited to take defensive players till I got running back depth. Once games start, see the worst defense, add their MLBs and SSs.
