You can't just keep growing your BR forever. Start taking out and investing. College degrees seem to be over-rated. Playing poker and investing, you can easily retire by age 30. If a college degree is strictly for the purpose of making money but you can make more money playing poker NOW than you could with your degree 30 years from now, I don't see the point finishing your degree.

I'm not sure if you've gotten enough experience of the rough times to ensure you can handle it (by not sure I mean I have no info in any directions), and quitting and going pro isn't just a matter of dropping out of school, it'll require planning.

As to the "keeping your parents happy" line... seems extremely irrelivant, keeping your parents happy by living up to their false ideals isn't going to better anyone's life. With your poker success, you won't need to look to them for financial assistance (and the beautiful thing is that if you go broke and need their help, they'll probably be willing)... assuming you've got some good downswings under your belt and at least 200k hands experience (I may get reamed for a lowball estimate here) that say you can do this, go for it if it'll make you happy.

You don't have to GO to college to bang college girls, and banging hot chicks isn't a means to happiness, so I don't really see it as an argument at all.

I already know that I'm going to have to rely on poker for income until I come up with another creative way to make money. My philosophy degree won't get me much, and even with a more useful degree, how could anyone decide to take a 90%+ paycut while giving up their freedom and having to report to more authority in any entry level job... poker is such a blessing if we don't abuse it... just rambling sorry, but, gotta go now...

do not quit college. make the most of it. you will never have the opportunity to be this age, in this situation, ever again.

money is fine, but when you look back on your life 10 years from now, you won't be remembering that sick 300bb pot you won. you'll remember the crazy/hilarious/disgusting/absurd night(s) you spent with your friends at school. you can play poker while youre in school; i honestly believe that dropping out would be such a huge, huge mistake.

My background: 32 yo college graduate and part time semi-pro (work 3 days at my "regular job").

My perspective: I would rather have those 4 years of college back rather more than anything in the material world. Do Not Give Up Your Youth. Your college years should be the finest of your life.

You can do both - just lighten up your courseload if needed.
