"if I lost 100 bb in a single session, I'd throw myself in front of a bus."

how strange, ive done it a few times, and ive also won over 100 bbs (im talking b and m, online doesnt count) a few times as well. ive also been stuck over 70 or more big bets a few times and came back to have a winning session. but i dont ever recall having been up that much and having lost it all back.. pretty obvious stuff if you know me.

Jebus. This paragraph absolutely floored me:
[ QUOTE ]
There I was- unemployed, looking for a new home, disillusioned with the 9-5 workforce, and knowing the one thing I truly loved doing was playing games. So, I made probably the biggest leap of faith of my life to date. With experience of only 19 hours of 1-3 stud, I packed a few bags and flew to Las Vegas with the intention of making myself a professional poker play.

[/ QUOTE ]

Great story. Thank you very much for sharing it.

Great story, I really enjoyed reading it and am glad things are working so well for you.

I am working up a story of my own for my 7 year poker experience. Hopefully I'll have it up sometime soon.

Congrats and a great story! Thanks for taking the time to share it with us. I am sure it is great 'being your own boss and not dealing with some of the corporate BS'!

Thank you,

Jim Kuhn

that's because 100 BBs at the limits you play is like 8 million dollars.

Great post Dynasty! Congrats on all the success.

100BB in a single session seems excessive to me. It's funny, I thought I had in the past gone through some 100Bb sessions, but in looking at my records, online the worst table loss I have ever had was minus 47BB. I did book a loss of 70BB that session - with two other games going. In B&M I've never gone through more than 40BB, and that was way out there for me. Usually if I drop 25BB I'm too depressed to keep playing.

Interesting story. Sounds like there was a lot going on there in your crazy decision to leave work over a trivial matter, though I don't think that's really why you left but only a symbol of more significant dissatisfactions with either the working world or your particular job or both. And also there was something real and central about you that you were addressing with your decision to try poker -- in a different city yet -- with trivial experience or knowledge. Good thing you had the cash to back up the shot you took at living your own life.

I think I can understand your coming to a definitive decision about work over something relatively mundane and trivial, or under the cover of it. I almost walked off the job at the end of the day just last week. Things accumulate through the years. It must be nice to not only have that kind of courage, but the talent and intelligence to make it pay off. I may have none of the three to near the degree you do, but your story resonated with me.
