The Wikipedia article on New Coke was interesting.

Thanks for the link. Interesting stuff.

Triggered a random memory, from the movie "Cobb". Keep in mind, Ty Cobb was from Georgia, home of Coca-Cola. Cobb County was named after someone in his family. Ty was one of the original investors in Coke who "got in on the ground floor", and it made him rich:

STUMP: Got any stock tips for me?
COBB: Put everything you got into Coca-Cola. We're coming out in cans next month.
STUMP: (skeptical) Coke in cans? I don't think so!

Neither of these are flops by any means. 8-tracks were pretty popular and CBs are still pretty widely used today. Maybe you're thinking of Smokey & The Bandit type movies featuring the CB. Even the movies weren't flops, though, so I guess you're just off all the way around.

ok,ok let me clarify. Being a toddler in the 70's I remember driving up on the weekends to vermont. The glove compartment was filled with 8tracks(maybe like 3 could fit)and the big thrill was to talk on the cb. As I grew up, both of these items suddenly disappeared from the consumer mkt. To me, in this relative time frame, they were flops.

I can almost agree to teh 8-track, ya, they disappeared pretty quickly, but almost everyone had one I thought? CBs are still everywhere, and is def not a flop.

As a toddler you were aware of market trends and patterns and now all you've made of yourself is being a guy aruging on a message board?

This is like if Doogie Hauser ended up as a janitor.

Maybe you've confused this thread with the "Name things that used to be huge, but aren't so huge any more" thread?

I dont really dont read too much a OOT anymore, but when I did, I remember liking your posts, not so much for the content but for the tone.

As far as your post, you really think you should be throwing stones?
