I can't provide research. I just can't imagine always staying shredded and being able to run a quick 5k could approach the optimal method to retain build/retain size.

I dont think running a quick 5k is that big a deal, a 5k isnt that far.

It isn't. But staying ripped is a far bigger deal. I have enough trouble personally staying big. Many of the guys who crossfit just look like an average skinny dude with clothes on, which is my biggest problem. I spend my entire life in clothes and none of it competing. I'd like to look like I actually care about my appearance rather than worrying if I'm going to have the endurance to flee from a deer chasing me.

maybe they have bad diets.

the guys in the video's I have been watching are big and ripped.

some of them are small, but maybe it's just genetic.

tr plz, and please expand on "it is not bodybuilding and does not fit the needs of those who exclusively work out for vanity purposes."

[/ QUOTE ]

seems to me it would make you lean and ripped. most sane ppl want that look.

[/ QUOTE ]

I was trying to expand on this, but you end up smaller than you would with other methods.

[/ QUOTE ]

i think you would get smaller w/ crossfit than many other methods of building you body. yes.

i do think that almost all of our fat nation is trying to get smaller, leaner, and fitter, which is what will happen with crossfit at a rate better than almost anything else.

as a way to truly build mass not that most effective way.
imho you will put on muscle doing it unless you are already jay cutler or something. for average joe it will def. be a muscle builder, but NOT the most effective way for that.

i will expand on the "in clothes" issue with you later thrempster. J.

Yeah, but keeping almost any kind of mass on at all can be a big deal, and for a lot of people it gets very hard as you incorporate more endurance exercises.

Most of my life I was all about speed and endurance, and the result was that it was impossible to keep any mass to speak of, and I wasn't very strong either. While my health was fantastic and I was one heck of an athlete, there was definitely a huge trade-off there, and I was often unhappy about it. Girls liked me a lot better when I was in much worse shape, even with a little fat on me. When I was in top shape, I had next to no sex appeal whatever. And it was very, very un-fun.

I'm still confused by this. The guy Thremp provided as an example above is ripped. He is only 5'5", and wearing a sloppy shirt in the one vid, but he's extremely muscular as seen with his shirt off. The morph to: I work out so I "look good in clothes" because I'm usually wearing clothes is amusing for a couple reasons.

Its not a morph. Its a fact. I don't think you look good when you're sitting in a room and are the smallest dude there no matter how "ripped" you are.

Brad Pitt in Fight Club is not an ideal body type for a heterosuxual. He's feking tiny. I'm a fairly small dude and I would dwarf him.
