This songs in this thread collectively suck. 90% of them make zero sense. The direction of this thread also sucks.

Don't Stop Believin' - Journey. How this song went unmentioned in this thread boggles my mind, especially in the El D forum.

Why not just mention "Pour Some Sugar on Me" if you're going to go that route?

This is the first bonafide *maybe* I've heard in a while.

Also to all, I think Hey Ya is in that burnout period right now from turbo-mega-overplay. But in a few years it'll be big again. Sort of like how everyone hated Boston by 1980 (which is why they didn't even release their 3rd album), but loved them again by 85.

I feel like the followup in this thread is severely lacking in quality compared to the OP.

I agree, and its because I think everyone here missed the idea of the thread. This isn't wow this song is really good and should be a classic, its songs that instantly became classics. People have heard of it, most people like it, some people love it, it is listenable. Im sure there are tons of songs that are [censored] amazing, amazing pieces of music. That doesn't make them a classic. To be a classic, at least in the context of what the OP is looking for, pretty much disqualifies most, if not all, the indie hipster stuff. Don't act naive and be like well 'xxx' is known by people, its good. Just because a band/song is liked by the mainstream doesnt make it bad like some people here like to think.

One of my biggest peeves are people who like only like songs that no one else has really heard of or like them because they are a small, non-mainstream act.

I think for every 2 times "Hey Ya" is mentioned, "Yeah" -Usher should be mentioned as well. That song is just as mainstream and recognized by everyone that knows Outkast.

Maybe it's cause I am from New Jersey, but Livin On A Prayer, would be a staple in such discussion.

sir duke - stevie wonder. that song is just hot. i think it has a lot to do with a great beat. disco in general might suck by most people's standards but the disco beat is my absolute favorite.

i love this song so much. I think I could listen to this and For Once in my Life over and over forever

"It's Tricky"
Run-DMC

This has always sounded like a good song for anyone in a skilled profession. Because it is tricky to rock a rhyme that's right on time.
