Which position is more important, Safety or MLB?

Who would you rather have on your team, Urlacher or Troy Palamalu?

[/ QUOTE ]

I'd say MLB. Both elite at their position, if I think MLB is more important than safety than I would take the elite MLB.

Urlacher, but it's pretty close either way. Polamalu is a pretty good comparison in terms of value compared to their position.

Urlacher is probably the fastest MLB in the league

[/ QUOTE ]

lol, no

[/ QUOTE ]

Would quickest be a better word? Maybe he isn't the fastest, but he seems to get to the ball carrier as fast as any other MLB in the league due to good anticipation.

[/ QUOTE ]

Yea, that's why his average tackle is for like a 10 yard gain.(exaggerating yes, but it's very bad)

[/ QUOTE ]

In 2004 his average tackle was 3.4 yards from the line, and he had a Stop Rate of 74% (which is very good for a LB). In 2005, those numbers dipped towards the middle of the pack, 4.1 and 64%. As has been pointed out, though, Urlacher makes a lot of plays other MLBs can't, chasing down ball-carriers from behind or on the other side of the field, which are very positive plays for his defense, but which hurt these particular stats.
