I thought the USB-ethernet adapter wasn't due out for a bit. If you can get it, go for it if you don't have wireless. Don't do it just for bandwidth's sake if you do have wireless, though. Other than a decently long update the first time you get online, there isn't much reason to worry about your connection speed. Most downloading is done when the wii is "off," unless you're using the browser extensively.

two other points:
internet < 802.11b (let alone g), so downloading over ethernet is not any faster, and
wifi routers are pretty cheap these days usually with a rebate.

[/ QUOTE ]

My Wii gets poor connectivity and the router is just across the room, I don't know if it is because it lacks an external antenna or if something is causing interference, but if it does not improve I'll stick the USB ethernet adapter on it to solve the issue. Probably about 1/2 the time when I hit wii news it fails, and about 75% of the time on wii update. Very odd. It did grab an update last night though. Pretty random on when it works.

This sounds a lot like the problems I was having, which I fixed by sliding my router about 5 feet away from a metal filing cabinet. I have no idea why every other wireless device I have didn't care about the filing cabinet and the Wii did, but whatever.

You can try changing the channel on your router and checking if your router has any firmware updates. That worked for me.

ychia,

Miis filter into your mii parade a few at a time. It'll take weeks for you to see all of them. Just be patient.

OK, I finally got around to entering a bunch of you. If I didn't get you, it was because I was sick of entering numbers and names with the infernal interface.
