It would probably be better to save it in case you get stung by a jellyfish.

Jeff,

"Many of the notions (and dubious "facts") presented in that e-mail seem to have been taken from the book Your Body's Many Cries for Water, by Fereydoon Batmanghelidj. Dr. Batmanghelidj, an Iranian-born physician..."

Apparently Iranians have trouble understanding basic concepts of drinking stuff and getting less thirsty.

wet,

No. It was published in a peer-reviewed journal. That's good enough for me for the purposes of this thread.

But I don't need any research to know that I'm gonna love having a crate of icy cold Coca-Cola in the desert.

[/ QUOTE ]

I just gave the article a quick glance, but it seemed the subjects were otherwise healthy individuals, You'd have to admit dying of thirst in the desert is a different situation altogether. And what if it was just one really hot can of soda to divide amongst say 2-3 people. I don't think it would make much of a difference at all. I'd still happily take my 1/3 or 1/2 but would it really do anything to delay the inevitable? You could be looking for water instead of fighting over the soda. A few measly ounces of soda isn't going to do anything.

el d,

is it really necessary for kurosh to admit he was wrong? who cares we all know he would drink it if he was in the desert and probably understands that he was wrong.

kurosh,

If dropped in the desert, it would be highly unlikely that we would actually have an Internet connection, and if we did, we could get help.

Therefore, you would have to go based on what you thought was the correct conclusion.

WHICH YOU RIGHT NOW THINK IS TO NOT DRINK THE SODA. YAHOO, MORE DELICIOUS REFRESHING BEVERAGE FOR ME!

[/ QUOTE ]I like how you keep changing the scenario to benefit your arguments.

Anyway, if we were stranded on a desert island without an Internet connection, I would not drink the soda and be 100% correct.

So what's your argument, that there would really be a case of icy soda available in this situation? Enlighten me.

Sorry, I guess I cheated by reading the original post.

I got in an argument with my gf on this subject. She claims that If you are stranded in the desert and only have Soda to drink; drinking that soda will actually make you die faster. How can this be. I have been googling the [censored] out of this and cant really find anything that says either way. Any nutritionists or anything out there can confirm, deny?

7 days in a desert. Kurosh drinks nothing, and I drink only Pepsi.

Let's roll.
