it's Canada, who cares? Her becoming Prime Minister is equivelant to NT winning Modship. In other words, irrelevant. [/ QUOTE ] The leadership of any nation, let alone a G8 nation, is a big deal. And for what it's worth, Belinda is not going to be Liberal leader. She can't speak french worth a damn. And to tell you the truth, I actually like Belinda. Her vision for Canada is actually pretty close to mine. If she could speak french competently, she'd be a lock IMO. I did a write up on my blog last month about the leadership race. I don't even include Belinda as one of the 4 top candidates. Here's the linky: http://ek15.blogspot.com/2006/08/lib...eadership.html |

Re: The Most Despicable Female on the Planet
As far as conservative talking heads go, Michelle Malkin is worse than Ann Coulter. With Coulter, you sort of wonder if it is an act, playing to the crowd in order to make money. With Malkin, you are much more certain that she is a loon.

Re: The Most Despicable Female on the Planet
No, I suppose not. But consider how Paul Martin stayed in the background for years, and was always a force to be reckoned within the party.
Belinda's image disallows that, but you can be sure she's becoming accustomed to how things work in Ottawa. When your father's Frank Stornach, you learn a thing or two about power. Kennedy might be the best of the lot, although Rae's more experienced. Sometimes I miss Jean. He ran a very tight ship, even if it sailed some wacky seas. I don't think he gets enough credit for his political mind. You don't keep a country like Canada together that long without being a very talented politician. /hijack |

Re: The Most Despicable Female on the Planet
It is my belief that Jean Chretien will go down as one of the greatest Prime Ministers this country has had.
You can [censored] on him for Adscam all you want, but the fact is he ensured the country would stay whole. Can you imagine if (someone like) Stephen Harper had been PM in 1995? How different would Canada be today? |

Re: The Most Despicable Female on the Planet
America's lapdog. Frightening idea to some of us up here, much as I love the US. Most of my family relocated during the Brain Drain.
He never quailed under public criticism. And you know, he rarely got angry in public. When he did... It sure as hell was noticed. One thing is for sure, the next majority PM has to show that he or she loves this whole country. You know, my impressions of the NDP are ehh because of the whole Rae debacle, but he'd make a great PM. Ontario's going thru a sucky phase 'cause of McGuinty. You know a Canadian can have leanings toward one party for his own province, yet lean towards another for the federal end of things. Odd, that. |
