Wow, I can really relate to this thread.
The restaurant experience I can really relate with, any other tips/snazzy ways of dealing with this? |

doublea, If you look beyond the surface into the deeper meaning of this rant, it is really all about how ridiculous it is that certain types of salespeople actually look down on and sometimes even obviously consider themselves superior to their customers. Facets of this exist in various high-end/luxury sales situations. [/ QUOTE ] I went into a high-end lingerie store with my girlfriend at the time, we were looking at some really fancy Italian [censored]. The woman was showing it to her and said, "save up sweetie." I said, "We're here to find something that will make her feel like the amazing sexy woman she is. I will tell you what is within my price range. If you want to do your job and help us out, great. If you just can't hold back your snarky comments, we'll happily take care of ourselves or just look elsewhere." That "save up sweetie" line was really just the culmination of an altogether snotty attitude. She basically did a 180 though after what I said. |

Re: Thoughts on high-end shoe salespeople RANT
I also went into a furniture store once and said I was looking for a nice new bed frame. The woman pointed to the other end of the store and added, "but I don't think we'd have anything you'd be interested in."
I asked her what I was interested in. Before she could open her mouth I said of course she didn't know, she didn't bother to ask. And I turned around and walked out. There really aren't many things that bug me more than a condescending salesperson. I realize that I'm young and goofy looking and so nobody takes me seriously...but the fact is that I'm not gonna willingly pony over cash to an [censored]. When I was looking for a tv stand I went into a higher-end furniture store in town. One of the salespeople was really friendly in greeting me and was happy to show me around. Because of that experience I went back when I needed a new couch. The second time around she had one of the other girls run to starbucks and get me an espresso. They're pricier than most of the stores in town, but whenever I need furniture that's where I go. I like to feel valued when I go shopping. |

Re: Thoughts on high-end shoe salespeople RANT
Next time just ask her to go away and have someone else help you out. If she actually got a commission off you, you lost the battle.
