If he builds the whole pool (or is offering to) then you dont have a "right" to get your money back.

The same is true if they are halfway through building the pool and you now decide the pool isnt going to turn out quite how you want it.

If you dont want a whole pool dont buy one.

I got coaching from Snowbank a while back, and I wasn't very impressed at all and got little out of it. I "signed up" for like 4-5 hours but I only used 2. I only sent him $$ for the first session of two hours and that was it. I didn't actively pursue finishing our lessons and that was that.

Now I've been coaching for the past 3 months, very little in March/Feb though because I was getting a little burned out with it and poker was going well so it made sense that I play instead of coach, plus coaching is a time committment which can be tiresome. I still have a few students I take, but it's nothing like in January where I had 15-20 lessons for the month. Coaching is not easy by any means, especially when you just start out. I agree with Krantz that you should look for coaches that have good reputations already to save you the hassle.

Snowbank probably should refund your money OP, but he is not obliged to. [censored] situation but lesson learned I suppose.

I just can't believe people are looking to a 1/2 player as their coach (?!).

PSJ you should take this in a hearbeat and feel lucky. Tufat good for you for sticking up for your coach/friend when everyone is now against him (even though I think it's clear snowbank is way in the wrong at this point).

It's nice to see the names coming out and weighing in on this issue. PSJ you might not realize because you're new, but some of the people commenting here are akin to movie stars in our little world - your little situation ended up drawing quite a bit of attention.

I would like to preference this post, in case you NL players do not know me, I have coached over 80 2+2ers in the past 3 years. I will be the first to say I am HORRIBLE at scheduling coaching (according to my standards); sometimes life takes us away, sometimes you have to be "on" to coach. However, I make myself available and go over and beyond the coaching hours if I have trouble scheduling.

If a student paid up front and wanted money back for unused services. That's a no brainer, I would give the money back.

For the second time in this thread I will say that perhaps people could stop throwing out accusations at snowbank until he has had a chance to defend himself and tell his side of the story. I understand it doesn't look too good from his side, but none the less we ought to listen to what he has to say before we let a person w/ 25 posts destroy his reputation.

Anyone here friends w/ snowbank and can refer him to this thread?

He's aware - I alerted him when this whole thing first started unfolding. I don't know him at all, but felt he should have a chance to tell his side.

4- it is in NO WAY snowbank's fault that you lost money playing. that's your own fault. and it's incredibly immature of you to blame this on him. a coach teaches you. he does NOT click buttons for you. honestly, a lot of your OP makes you sound like you're in eighth grade.

[/ QUOTE ]

thanks for your reply. I am not blaming him for my losses. I just would like a refund for unused sessions. The first I ever heard of no refunds was THIS chat.

Also as stated, The sessions we did have were not good. I posted this a few times, and another student of his posted in this thread (with chat transcripts) how much he sucked also.

Haha, out of the goodness of your heart right?
