How is it off-topic to point out the possible connection between acting like a clown and procuring a paying position?

It doesn't mean it's justified, merely that there was a reason behind the acting.

He behaved in similar clown-like ways back in 2002 for ESPN's WPO-Tunica coverage.

Perhaps he had some additional motivation this time.
But he's done stupid stuff like this before and the topic is more about his general douchiness...not just the one 'shark' situation.

I saw Humberto talking to some guy in the hallway and he had the CHARKE in his hand. I was SOOOO close to snatching it and running.

The impression I'm getting from this thread is that he's a guy who seems decent when there's not a camera around, and then turns into a vile attention whore. That seems pretty repugnant to me.

Bottom line:

Sr. Brenes figured out what el lider mundial en deportes wants, and gave what el lider mundial en deportes wants from him when the TV cameras are on him so that he managed to land a job writing poker in Spanish for el lider mundial en deportes.

You could have said the same thing about hundreds of "talent" who work for el lider mundial en deportes, regardless of which of the 15 or so languages a particular media outlet owned or operated by el lider mundial en deportes uses.

And yes, I do know that 90+% of you absolutely HATE el lider mundial en deportes, just as 90+% of you hate everyone that has anything to do with this industry.

I believe it is agreed that Humberto's antics is so over the top that it would be a very understandable defense if he was assaulted at the table.

My question, is he all schtik(sp) or can the man play poker? It seems he goes deep fairly regularly in big tournament. Last years WSOP he had 8 cashes, but none deep sans the main event. Now from those results one can make an argument that he is a very good tourney player, but his name is never mentioned amongst the top.

Is he considered a top tournament player?
