I think people's advice here is misguided and wrong.

There is much to gain from OP dating this girl.

Think of the various trip reports:

"Took preggo friend to concert but left after one song becuase her 'feets hurt'"

"Went to expensive dinner, but preggo GF was upset beacuse they didn't have eel ice cream."

"Wanted to hit the bars with friends but had instead chose lamaze class"

She'll also get fat... and probably shave her head.

I read that article before it was posted...it's sideways related to this issue, to your particular issue, but not directly. I was thinking about something more like this:

[ QUOTE ]
heard in California that if the biological father fails in someway to pay support that a live in boyfriend who has an established address at the mothers house may become responsible. Any truth to this?

[/ QUOTE ]

[ QUOTE ]
I think I heard that if an individual assumes permanent residents, and is a financial contributor to the household that he could be held responsible if a break up happened. For example loans, or debit that the couple has accrued. Usually through the woman’s credit cards with the promise of the man to pay (cash) back. All of this would have an impact on children, as the mother would be left to deal with the debit.

California has come down hard on the side of children regarding support. Maybe like that of deep pockets? I’m not sure

but that's just some random blatherings on an internet message board (uh...) and hardly seemed worth citing.

I don't know if, in some of these cases, common-law marriage issues have an impact. But really the larger issue is whether prolonged involvement in a situation like this would case, if not legal, than moral/ethical obligations toward the child. as the case, it seems, with adsman's friend.

I could be wrong, but I don't think most girls can go 4 months without realizing they haven't had their damn period.

[/ QUOTE ]

She won't always stop her period immediately.. I knew a girl that kept having it for a couple months after she got preggo and didn't realize that she was until she was about 4mo along. Uncommon probably, but not terribly rare.

According to the article in the link that was posted, you don't have to be the child's father to be responsible for child support. If a boyfriend accepts paternity of the child when it is born, he owes it a legal responsibility. I'm not sure of the exact methods for accepting paternity here in Canada, but in the link, all that had to be done was signing an affidavit at birth.

Please tell me that you are not even contemplating this course of action??

Obviously not, I was just responding to Five-Star who was saying he was confused why the topic of child support kept coming up if the child wasn't mine.
