Imagine X goes to a restaurant a few times a week for a couple years, then one day he just skips out on his tab, leaving the waiters stuck paying it. Then a few months later, he returns and tells the other regulars not to worry, that he is safe, but just working on some things and would appreciate some understanding. They celebrate his return and wish him luck. Then one of them says, hey its great to have you back, but ya know, you did bounce on your debts leaving the waiters here holding the bag.

Would that person be unreasonable? Especially since one of the people to whom the debt is owed is their friend?


The fact that he came back here and has apologized is obviously a good sign and encouraging, but it doesn't absolve him of wrongdoing.
