They are calling up Kevin Mellilo. This is pretty drastic - why is he being released instead of Shannon Stewart, who [censored] sucks?

If someone is interested, good, they unload someone who they are unhappy with. Stewart has been better recently, is cheaper, and gets it enough to work his butt off to earn an mlb contract next year... ???? I don't know anything -- and I don't like that theory -- but there it is, a theory, for your amusement... Also/alternatively, it's a number game with their 40 man and having a bunch of injuries and a bunch of guys who belong in the outfield/dh... ?

The logic on the athleticsnation blog is that Beane wants to get rid of Bradley before he has a kniption about PT. Why on earth don't you just work a trade for him immediately? This puts the A's at so much risk. I realize there is little probability of this happening but they could potentially end up eating Bradley's salary and get nothing. I also don't see how the DFA could do anything but weaken their bargaining position.

[/ QUOTE ] The calf and hamstring thing (fairly or unfairly) kinda wreaks-- injuries where you look fine to everybody. And several assorted trips to "Camp Snoopy" for that (fairly or unfairly) is a problem, I'd guess, for the ballplayer and the organization.
