What about the Kooks? I just heard them today and really like them. Anyone have opinions?

Re: General Music Discussion Thread (a.k.a. indie lovefest)
The latest albums I've picked up recently that I dig are Lily Allen (Alright, Still) and Peter Bjorn & John (Writer's Block). I really like Lily Allen in particular-- very, very pop, but very good and with a pull-no-punches sense of humor.
I haven't listened to Peter Bjorn & John as much, but so far I dig it, and I really like "Let's Call It Off" (which may or may not be the single-- I heard it on Sirius). Anyone else have any opinion on either of these? |

I'd recommend this track to those of you who haven't ever heard this. It's the first song on the album, and is pretty indicative of the album's sound. OMG WTF WON'T THIS LINK WORK [/ QUOTE ] that song was only like 1 1/2 mins. long |

[/ QUOTE ] I listened to this a ton when it first came out, and I loved it, but I don't think it has a lot of lasting value. I never really feel like putting it on these days. Maybe that's just me getting jaded with new music too fast, though. It's still a great album. |

Re: General Music Discussion Thread (a.k.a. indie lovefest)
some international recommendations:
Ricardo Villalobos: Chilean minimalist electronic dude. Meaning he uses one phrase or idea per song and tweaks it subtly. Sometimes no two bars are the same. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r4RJsDuW4Q4 Dungen: swedish rock band. something very fulfilling about singing along to these guys and having no clue what it means. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PEnUP...ed&search= not the actual video, but better audio quality than the alternative. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R4TTXYKViIc I'm From Barcelona: Swedish funrock. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OwwbXHNGsjUh ttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uTqmob1dQYg Cat Power: Pretty American clever soulful folksy singer. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MVGgGW1ZalY http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_B-MmqvfDv8 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EuYQ7dF7Kvc |

Ja,
Cat Power is a mainstay in my car. I always bring her up in these threads and I was trying not to this time. I am surprised this hasn't been mentioned yet: |
