Re: What are some good acoustic covers to learn?
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] Stevie Nicks said, in an interview, that she was honored that he covered it. [/ QUOTE ] That's not saying much - Nicks' voice is only slightly less displeasing to the ear than Corgan's. Those are two horrible singing voices. [/ QUOTE ] I think that this is an unwinnable battle, people either love or hate Billy Corgan's voice. I personally enjoy it. While I'm not a Fleetwood Mac fan by any means I find the original Landslide to be ok, no replay value though. The Corgan Cover I could listen to all the time...some of the riffs he added to it and the guitar solo in the middle are Amazing. |

Re: What are some good acoustic covers to learn?

If you want to hear some interesting takes on acoustic covers, check out Johnny Cash's American series of albums, particularly American III. The trick with playing a good acoustic set is taking the songs and melding them to your own personal style and abilities. Cash sure can't sing like Bono, but check out what he does with 'One'. Also, check out the album Bossa N Stones 2 with some great takes on some classic Rolling Stones tracks. A small list of some songs that I played in my bar last night that went down really well; Gallows Poll - Led Zep. Put your lights on - Santana. Spare Parts - Bruce Springsteen Jumping Jack Flash - The Stones. The great song of indifference - Bob Geldof. Winter Solstice - The Tea Party. That's the Way - Led Zep. Harvest Moon - Neil Young. Jamies got a gun - Aerosmith. Herion - Velvet Underground. Good Riddance - Green Day. Losing my religion - REM [/ QUOTE ] ads, you fecking rock my world. |

[ QUOTE ] I love Smashing Pumpkins but Corgan's cover of Landslide is painful to listen to. [/ QUOTE ] Interesting...I'm a lifelong SP fan and I had actually never heard this song up till about 2 yrs. ago and I think this ranks up there with his best. Stevie Nicks said, in an interview, that she was honored that he covered it. I might be going to the Halloween show if I can get tickets and I hope he plays it. [/ QUOTE ] On the same single, they did Thin Lizzy's "Dancing In The Moonlight". That was much more awesome than the original imo. |
