Re: Brian Townsend\'s Downswing (for all the Brian Townsend haters)

Steel Pots, If Taylor Caby is so open about telling the truth, then why is he so secretive about details of the membership fair? Maybe think about that for a while before believing everything he writes. [/ QUOTE ] You can't be this clueless. Why would any private business give out these numbers? It doesn't make sense for him to disclose that info. In fact it'd be just plain dumb. Why would he do it? Because you ASKED him to, looooool. |

bustedromo- After reading this second post I take back most of my comments about the first. I thought you were assuming Brian would have a +EV most of the time but go bust simply due to money velocity factors. This argument seemed too simplistic to me. But I see now you're making the more subtle argument that the tendency to downplay variance may seriously impact Brian's EV as game conditions or whatever change. That seems very reasonable, though it's still pretty speculative. And the fact remains that the general variance properties of poker are far simpler than trading, so a moderate tendency to self-delusion is not as risky. [/ QUOTE ] awesome |

You know what would be the greatest.
One day soon we wake up and there is no aba, no sbrugby, no brain townsend in the poker world. He just ups and leaves us all. Takes his roll and quits poker for good. What respect I would have for that kid. Pulls his 7 to 8 figure hard earned bankroll and moves on. No more variance, no more poker stats, no more upswings and downswings. He proves he is better and smarter than us all. Then he truly would become a poker winner. |

[/ QUOTE ] I didn't mean to imply that I believe everything Taylor Caby writes - although he does have a very straight-laced, "gee, shucks" kind of personality which makes him pretty believable. Take that for what it's worth. Also - a person's desire to keep certain aspects of his business dealings private doesn't imply that the statements he has made about his business have been dishonest. |

Your living in fairytale world sir. Experience comes by reflecting on your play and you cannot I repeat cannot do that playing 4 5 6 games at the same time. You are very new to poker to understand or kidding yourself. Wisdom from an elderly player. Hope this sinks in before your bankroll does [/ QUOTE ] this is very much false. Go look at the plo8 forum and look at the threads I've started in the past 2 weeks, many of which contain specific hand examples that I've thought about and analyzed non-stop after posting them.....all of that came while multitabling. And while I'm sure you've played a lot more than me, I have played online professionally for 4 years and had little problems being able to analyze hands. |
