I HATE these spots!! More often than not though it's the nuts. If he wanted to take the pot after missing his draw, he would never bet this much considering the size of the pot. Same could be said about trips/twopair. Unless you have a read on villian, I suggest a painful fold.

I do not see how you can fold...
let's be realistic here, the only way he;s playing a KJ that slow is if he has the KdJd, well unfortunately our hero has the J of diamonds... I beat him into the pot here and will take it down more often than not |

I would instacall , and expect to see a set, or hillarious 78, or a busted flush draw, more often than not.

Re: $400 NL 6M - Strange River All-In Raise. Call?
That was exactly my thought process.
So If Hero doesn't have J [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], is it still a call? |

[/ QUOTE ] I'd still call but be a little worried...I still don't think KJ calls flop, calls turn, and moves ALL IN on the river...where's the value in playing the NUTZ like that? |

I would instacall , and expect to see a set, [/ QUOTE ] This river raise is forcing folds out of every hand a set could beat and only getting looked up by a hand that it beats. Not to mention, a set never raises on flop or turn?!? [ QUOTE ] or hillarious 78 [/ QUOTE ] MAAAAAYBE. This is the only hand I could possibly see villian having that you beat. [ QUOTE ] or a busted flush draw [/ QUOTE ] why would a busted flush draw decide to to bluff for 4X the pot on the river. If villian is this crazy wouldn't he push when is draw was still live? Of course I am assuming villian is not hyper LAG, drunk, or brain dead. |

Re: $400 NL 6M - Strange River All-In Raise. Call?
A lot of people are saying call, but as an alternative you could fold and quit poker forever.
If he has the nuts, so be it - you'll win just as many hands as you'll lose like this over the long run. This is exactly like the "KK preflop OMG should I call?!?!" kind of post. |
