All this talk of photography has piqued my interest. I'm going on a few holidays over the next few months so I figure this is as good a time as any to begin. Looking at the Canon EOS 400D Digital SLR Camera (18-55mm Lens Kit) (about 400 quid on Amazon). Would this be a good choice? Would I have to get any more lenses or other random accessories? Any other tips on getting started would be great.

funny, i was thinking the same thing Jay. I used to be pretty heavily into it, took a couple of B&W classes at school and really enjoyed shooting on film, but been too busy to keep up with it.

After seeing Chaos's pic's i think i'm going to start shooting again.

Also wanted to say thanks to Chaos, I have a new Wallpaper for my desktop like every other week!

Anyone got tips for chatting up foreign chicks who speak little/no-English? Will be going out in French clubs most nights for the week I'm in the Alps and want to have a little game if I see a nice French lady who has shaven armpits (unlikely as that may sound).

Smile, whip it out, go "Hmmmm?", put it back in and walk away. She'll probably follow you wherever you go (the bedroom obv).

I discussed this with a french girl when I was in Paris this october. She said that they dig american english, not sure if that goes for the british as well. A friend of hers (guy) also chimed in and said that even french guys pick up french chicks by talking english. I don't know if it's the same deal outside of Paris, but she also said appearance is everything - you have to "be somebody". She actually advised me to make up a phony brag about being a celebrity in my country (lol wtf), because it would probably help my game. Yeah, I know, stupid and superficial, but she said that's how they roll. I didn't try it out much, since I was kind of emo after just being dumped, and tbh I didn't really see that many hotties - might have been bad luck/timing/wrong places, though, but generally they have huge noses and aren't that attractive. I still heart Audrey Tatou, but unfortunately she wasn't there to accept my proposal.

Well, the basketball game pretty much the date; we went together, I triumphed in the [censored]-talking battle obv because my team won, we went back to her place and hung out and went to bed and woke up at 6:30am to drive home and go to work.

Traffic is teh sux, it took me 3 hours to get there and a little over 2 to get home (~125 mile drive). I despise [censored] that drive Priuses that get to use the carpool lane and I despise the fact that our government does such an incompetent [censored] job of providing decent highway transit. I met a dude at my company who commutes from like 60 miles away on traffic-ridden freeways every day; I'd kill myself. I seriously don't understand why people accept traffic as a fact of life. It's [censored] [censored].

There are some behind the scenes reasons why the goofycouple is probably not going to last, as well. Standard imo.
