Re: how do you send PT databases?
Utilities > Export HH's to File ............
Then ZIP up all text files - and e-mail or upload to hosting site. Recipient then can unzip, and import the text files. Pretty sure that is the normal method of sharing HH's. |

Re: how do you send PT databases?
Actually, i think he wants to ship the DB itself, not the individual HHs. The method above will work fine, but will require you to RE-import all of the HHs, which u prob don't want to do.
Assuming ur using postGRES and not the outdated Access DBs, the answer is that u want to use the Utilities...PostgreSQL DB Functions... menu and select the DB you want, then click Backup. A 1M-hand DB will take around 45 mins to back up, and will result in a compressed file around 150 MB in size. I then use AOL IM to transfer it, since that's the fastest method i've found -- takes around an hour to transfer it to the recipient over IM. Then the recipient 'expands' the compressed file using the same PT menu screen that u used to back up the DB, except he uses the "Restore" function. And voila. |
