river overbet shove bluff
Kind of a weird decision here by me... let me explain my thought process a bit.
Villain and I don't have much history... he's a seemingly nitty 17/15 type nitty tagg. I'm playing kind of nitty as well, and I've been really sick the last couple weeks so this is my first session in a while. River I'm shoving $377 to win $72 so initial risk:reward type thinking suggests it's awful. However, how often can he ever call here, especially considering that I have the ace of spades? For anyone thinking I'm just making a stupid image post, I want to clarify and say that I think everytime I've ever made a shove in a similar spot, it's been 100% pure nuts, every time. This would suggest that he probably couldn't call profitably without them, although I wouldn't ever expect him to fold something like JsXs. Anyway, thoughts? If nothing else, I hope this is a break from the standard, boring hands everyone is so used to seeing. Re: river overbet shove bluff
my question is, what are you representing on the river that doesn't bet the turn?

my question is, what are you representing on the river that doesn't bet the turn? [/ QUOTE ] The idea was spades, heavily weighted toward ace high spades. even if I'm missing out on some value on the turn by checking those back, which is more than likely true, I would think that given new information (river action), that a huge % of my range on the river is still big spades. I word it that way because I don't want to try to convince myself that my range is something it's not. |

Re: river overbet shove bluff
anyway, results:
he thought just long enough so I know it wasn't a misclick, and called with 88. I still think it's an awful, awful call (even if my shove isn't good either), and he probably didn't realize he was calling a 5xPot shove on the river against a nit with a pure bluff catcher on a nasty board. i suck |
