I would play a turned pair+flushdraw like this.

[/ QUOTE ]

well that sure is bad.

PokerBob--

Is this really that bad? LP can easily have garbage and PJ can easily have AK/AQ. [Insert thing about fractions of bets and big pots.]

BTW I'm legitimately asking this question, not being passive-aggressive. I'm not sure it's viable but every so often you induce a fold from a live or even better hand, sometimes you make money immediately, and you rarely lose much. I guess getting 3bet by a set would be unpleasant, but c'mon, whoever flops a set?

--Nate

EDIT: Maybe the key distinction to make re: your post is that between clearly wrong and very wrong?

If PJ does indeed have AK/AQ he may (a) not even bet it on the turn and (b) ain't folding it to a c/r.

May not? There is no way Joker bets AK/AQ into 4 players if he is sober and I have never seen him not be. The last thing he wants is to get popped and have to call for his gutshot+possible pair outs.

no it really isn't. it's almost breakeven equity wise and it might buy me a fold on the river VS pj.

PJ never (or very very rarely) folds a better hand here. What does he think you have when you take this line that beats one pair? there isn't much here that he can give you that beats him. when that is the case and the pot is big, good players don't fold.

its bad. PJ has precisely top pair or better or KsQs here always.

You think he is calling me down every time when I CR the turn with any top pair or one pair hand? I know I would have to worry about the lady as well, but she has a draw pretty often on this particular board.

and how many of those draws (a) are better than yours (b) if not better, hold some of your outs and (c) are hands like KQ that when the river comes a red K or Q, she ain't folding to your bet closing the action in a now HUGE pot after PJ begrudgingly decides to dump his aces?

yes he is calling the raise because he has the proper odds to call and beat 2 pair. Plus you have to deal with the other lady who at worst also has a draw. If your firing a blank on that river after having them both call you... then wow.

Think of it this way, vs their showdown range your toast with a small pair + flushdraw more often than your going to be good.
