That does help your chances. I never bother with hands like this though, although I currently only play 1-2 and 2-4. I find so many hands where I have a big edge that I don't see any reason to mess with something this close.

Maybe 5-10 requires some of this. I would be leery of entering a pot with a hand this bad though.

How can you think that this hand is *THAT* bad. I would raise in this spot in stud hi too. And now we have A2 with incredibly live low cards too. The pot is $11. I am at least putting in another $1.5 to see another card. We can't just give away the pot to seat 4

completing 3rd is fine. with the dead 9, we are about even money with a pair of 9s. but antes and the initiative with a scary door card gives you an edge.
