PS3 problem.
I've only had the PS3 for 2 days, but it refuses to turn on now.
Every time I try to turn it on the green light is on for 2 seconds, before I hear 3 beeps and it shuts off again. I can't even eject the disc inside. What gives? |

Re: PS3 problem.
Oh, I forgot to mention. After the thing shuts off after 3 beeps, the red light is flashing.
I read the manual and it says it's an overheating problem, but that can't be it. The system is completely cold because I haven't played since last night, and when I played it last night it worked perfectly and showed no signs of overheating. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR |

Re: PS3 problem.
Meh, I called Sony and they will replace my system. Standard I guess.

Re: PS3 problem.
Out of curiosity, was it a $400 system? Previously I thought Sony's version of the RROD was flashing yellow lights (or does this exclude overheating?). Wondering if things have changed with the new $400s, as they have changed the hardware somewhat significantly.

Re: PS3 problem.
People say this works when buying a PS3. Or Xbox360 for that matter.

Re: PS3 problem.
Not only that, But i think they are running some Buy x Gift Cards get an extra one for free, which lowers the price even more. You just buy x gift cards which is about the price of the ps3 and you end up getting a decent amount of money off.

Re: PS3 problem.
Sounds like you just got a bad unit. Its a shame but it happens with all 3 consoles. I run my ps3 almost daily with games and Folding@Home and no problems so far. There was an article posted out how they put a PS3 in a fridge for 24hrs and then a sauna for 24hrs and the thing didnt crash once. So hopefully you will have better luck.
So did you buy a model with a PS2 chip in it or was it the new one without it? Warhawk should be your first buy. |

Re: PS3 problem.
Its pretty sad that so both Sony and MS ship units that are faulty. MS's is worse obviously. Its just so shocking. Really poor manufacturing/designing of the hardwares mechanical performance.
