Admittedly, I'm ignoring the PR aspect of the move, and the fact that Brodeur is kinda the face of the Devils in a new arena, etc. But from a pure hockey standpoint, Marty's perceived value is way higher than his actual value, and he's coming off a career year, and he's in his mid-thirties. If I could get something like a top notch defensemen AND a top offensive gun for him, particularly young ones whom I could sign for a while, I'd do it in a heartbeat.
