Re: Jimmy Rollins - Philly sports talk radio rant
Fielding percentage may be a more worthless stat than batting average.

Re: Jimmy Rollins - Philly sports talk radio rant
I haven't watched Rollins enough to assess him as a fielder, but whoever suggested that Reyes was just "flashy" defensively doesn't know what he's talking about. Reyes' defense is not notable for being "flashy" but for being very consistent.
I'd be surprised to hear that Rollins has Reyes' range. |

Rollins fielding % = .985 Reyes fielding % = .982 Ramirez fielding % = .963 rollins had 11 erros reyes had 12 erros ramirez had 24 erros good call on the defense I'm not gonan go into hitting, but Hanley did better than the other two, but Rollins was clutch. you have to admit that Granted, Angelo is an idiot, but ur rant was pretty f'ing worthless too [/ QUOTE ] Obvious a level, very nice. I was just ranting, so my post wasn't very legible. I meant Reyes and Hanley are 10 times better overall, and not 10 times better defensively. Hanley is a pretty poor fielder, but the Marlins will for sure move him to another position soon. I don't believe that Reyes is "all flash." He has unbelievable range and arm. Sure, he had a bad year last year, but he is still very young and will rebound. Edit: he isn't leveling lol... keep up the good work broseph. people like you are the reason why my beloved phillies haven't won the world series since 1980. Double Edit: In my opinon, and in the opinion of other knowledgable baseball people, "clutch" doesnt exist. Players who have better numbers offensively, suprisingly, have more "clutch" hits. Coincidence? Nope, makes sense. |

Re: Jimmy Rollins - Philly sports talk radio rant
I'm sorry EP, but LOL @ getting pissed off at Cataldi. I mean, you can at least make a credible argument that Rollins was the best SS in mlb last year. The only guy with a better VORP was Ramirez and his defense is bad enough to give an opening to Jroll.
Remember, it could be far worse. You could have been listening to Howard Eskin. |

Re: Jimmy Rollins - Philly sports talk radio rant
You realize Ramirez just finished his 2nd year in the majors right? Sure his defense is bad now, but it will obviously improve, he is already a much better hitter than Rollins and Reyes and he is just going to get better.
