Re: Big blind all in with less than bb - what is needed to call?
[ QUOTE ]
The topic should be quite self-explanatory. Atleast at iPoker network you always have to put in the full bb to limp in, but it seems that some other networks have different rules; Just the amount of the bb all-in is needed. So, what's the official/correct rule? Thanks. [/ QUOTE ] You are all in for the amount you have! Once in a tournamrnt, I was all in for the ante and couldnt even post the blinds! (100-200 with a 25 ante) I built back to 1700 in chips!! That was fun, and the dealer got a great tip! |

Ok, maybe it wasn't so self-explanatory after all, sorry
I think Lego05 got what I meant tho; Let's say blinds are 5/10. A player in bb has a stack of 7 chips, so he's forced all-in. I'm on the button with a big stack and it's folded to me. Do I have to put in 7 chips, or 10 chips in the pot to constitute a call? |

Re: Big blind all in with less than bb - what is needed to call?
[ QUOTE ]
Is the reply in this article correct? Article [/ QUOTE ] No, it's not: "Answer: Yes, the online poker sites have the correct rule: If the big blind can't cover the regular limit, then the bet that everyone has to call, is whatever the big blind goes all-in for. So the in example you have above, the players would have to call $250. The reason for this is because the big blind is just considered the initial bet. The only difference between a big blind bet and other bets is that the big blind bet is forced." If there are online sites doing this, that's their special rule. The stack of the player in the big blind position does not determine how much the big blind is, for that level. Her stack only determines how much of the resulting pot she is competing for. The BB amount is the forced bet amount that has been predetermined. How much of that forced bet, which the player in the position two to the left of the button, the player can match has nothing to do with what the other players have to call for. |

Re: Big blind all in with less than bb - what is needed to call?
Based on the fact that it was folded to you and theres no one left to act after you. If you were the first one to act after BB, you'd put in the normal 10 chip BB, and then if everyone else folded, 3 would be returned to you before the flop. Same thing.
