Re: WTF at a guy knocking out a girl right in front of me...
you handled this situation pretty well. No way I get into a fight with this guy here, he could have pulled a gun/knife on you and killed you. Good thing you didn't exchange numbers with this chick either, cuz when they get back together he will be breathing down your neck. Anyway, good job with the way you handled it.

Am I the only person who doesn't try and fight the guy because she hit first? I hate double standards. [/ QUOTE ] My thoughts exactly. Responses would be much different if OP was "late at night I saw two guys staring each other down. Guy 1 slaps guy 2 and guy 2 decks guy 1. Should I call the police on guy 2? Should I have tried to fight guy 2?" Imo guy's actions were justified since he was assaulted. |

That variable should greatly alter this way of this thinking. Add in that he didn't slap her, he didn't grab her wrists, he knocked her square in the tooth with a solid right and this should continue to skew that thinking, no? |

THE MEDIA PORTRAYS BEATING WOMEN AS A NEGATIVE THING, BUT REALLY IT IS JUST HOW THE WORLD WORKS. MEN ARE STRONGER THAN WOMEN, SO IT IS ONLY NATURAL THAT THEY USE THERE PHYSICALITY TO INFORCE THEIR WILL/DOMINANCE.

Yeah, to be fair (with equal rights and everything), this should be viewed in exactly the same way as a that dude hitting a small, skinny guy.

Re: WTF at a guy knocking out a girl right in front of me...
Call the cops and follow dude at a safe distance in OP's case and in all these variant popup scenarios.
I was in a similar situation last month downtown toronto near Victoria and Dundas, there were quite a few people that saw it and it didn't look domestic exactly, they could have been unknown to each other or possibly drug related but anyway I called 911 and followed the guy until he hung out in front of a store on Yonge ST. I thought cops were gonna roll by any second and pick this douche up right away but 10 minutes later and nothing so I left. During my call to the operator he asked for my info: name, etc... and I declined, I think that had a reason to do with the perceived lack of police response. |

[/ QUOTE ] No offense, but I think this way of thinking is sexist. Why should gender matter? Because women are inherently weaker and more delicate? Would your opinion change if the woman was the same height and build as the man? What if she was bigger? What if a midget started an argument with you in a bar and proceeded to slap you. Would you hit him back? The guy is question didn't hit first and he only hit her once, he didn't pound the [censored] out of her when she was down. This might be a different situation if it was more of a symbolic slap than a real slap. |

Re: WTF at a guy knocking out a girl right in front of me...
meh, I think there's a difference due to intent. When a girl slaps a guy, she's not trying to hurt him. She's trying to disrespect him. When a guy punches a girl, he's trying to hurt her.
So for all of you saying this is parallel to a small guy hitting a big guy...it's not. Because when a guy hits another guy, it's almost with intention to hurt. Of course, if a girl is trying to injure a guy then I think it's fair game. But that's usually not the case, and I think it's an important distinction...obviously the girl may be out of line for using physical methods to disrespect a guy, but that doesn't mean she should be physically injured. |
