Help, am I grossly overplaying these hands? 3/6nl
I just dropped about $1k at 3/6 NL and all my loses have come from AA, KK, and AKo. I have attached some hand histories. Please give your input. This is distressing for me.

Re: Help, am I grossly overplaying these hands? 3/6nl
You're not going to be happy with what you get...
1. Use a hand history converter so we can read your histories. Do not post the results of the hand (your opponent's holdings) if you want strategy advice on the hands. 2. You are the reason why NL is so profitable. Continuing to play 3/6NL is suicide for you. 3. Drop down to the NL10 game, or lower if possible, and read the following books, in this suggested order: A. Ciaffone's Pot-Limit and No-Limit Poker B. Sklansky's No-Limit Holdem Theory and Practice C. Flynn, Mehta and Miller's Professional No-Limit Holdem ,Volume 1. D. Sklansky's Theory of Poker (optional) You don't "deserve" to stack someone just because you waited around for a super-premium starting hand. NL Holdem played with 100BB or more stacks is about postflop play, not so much about preflop hand selection. If you want to go bananas every time you flop an overpair, pick up Miller's Getting Started in Holdem, and play the shortstack strategy (buying in for the minimum). From a technical point of view, you are making the mistake of "offering your opponents too high implied odds". If you don't know what that means, don't play poker until you do. Those books will get you going. Jim |

Re: Help, am I grossly overplaying these hands? 3/6nl
hand 1 is fine pf , you have to bet the flop tho ...with 2 suited cards this isnt rly the flop you want to give a free card with
the rest are pretty standard ,imo you just ran bad which happens from time to time , i dont see any horrible mistakes in any of these hands (except the 1st one) cookerino is a big time fish ,,,and makes me wish i could play at IPOKER...sigh .. |

Re: Help, am I grossly overplaying these hands? 3/6nl
Hand 1 you should raise a bit more preflop IMO, your raise is barely over a minraise.
The rest looked standard, but the handhistories are pretty ugly so I might have missed something.. If losing KK vs QQ allin preflop distresses you, I'd think 3/6 is a bit high for you to be playing Assuming this is a serious post, I'd recommend you read up a bit on bankroll management and drop down to a level of play for which you are properly rolled, since none of these hands were overplayed - overpairs in re-raised pots are pretty damn hard to fold (and for a good reason - most of the time you have the best hand). Also, 1k at 3/6 is next to nothing - I only play 1/2, but 1k up or down should be something that happens more or less everyday if you play 3/6, which is why a proper 3/6 bankroll should probably be around 15-20 000$. |

Re: Help, am I grossly overplaying these hands? 3/6nl
To me it looks like you just got unlucky on most of the hands. Totaly out flopped most the time. These hands are a perfect example of why im starting to learn other games instead of just NL.

[/ QUOTE ] I'm not exactly proficent at any non-NLHE games but I'm quite sure getting out-flopped/out-drawn is something inherent to all forms of poker, and is pretty much why you can win money playing it I mean, if the fish never won with the worst hand, most wouldn't feel like playing again. To me, these hands are a reason to play NLHE - they got the money in bad, and many times over. Oh, that's of course not to say that learning other games than NLHE is a bad thing, as the more games you know the more fish you can find |
