Way too close to call, too many variables. Both are awesome.

Hash browns are often undercooked. In that case, home fries are better. Both properly cooked - I take hash browns.

Home fries are good though for mixing up with onions, bacon, cheese, scrambled eggs, and tabasco.

QFT. I've never had hash browns that weren't soggy and flavorless. On the other hand, I've never had home fries that were poorly prepared. Add a little bit of onion into the home fries and let the syrup spill over and you've got yourself one hell of a tasty breakfast item.

Wow I've had the exact opposite thing happen my entire life. I've never had a hash brown that wasn't crispy and awesome, while house fries are always soggy and cold with a pasty flavor of sorts.

WTF
Where have you been eating? YOU RUN GOOD. I've probably had more undercooked HBs than sufficiently cooked.

I don't eat out that much for breakfast, but when I do it's usually either a local joint, or a perkins in the middle of the night.

I would flipflop the welldone hfs and the "other" hfs, otherwise, excellent.

Straight up it's hash browns. But it would be a Sophie's Choice between "scattered and covered" and HF with sawmill gravy.
