[NL100 SH] AQo - Non-cb Board?
Hi,
PartyPoker $100 NL Hold'em (6 handed) HandRecorder v0.9b Stacks & Stats UTG ($100) MP ($96) (34/13/1.28/39) (2485h) CO ($158.20) BB ($247.47) SB ($105.03) Hero ($119.69) Preflop: Hero is BU with Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 1 folds, MP calls $1, 1 folds, Hero raises to $5, 2 folds, MP calls $4. Flop: ($11.50) 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players) MP checks, Hero checks. Turn: ($11.50) 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players) MP checks, Hero checks. River: ($11.50) 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players) MP checks, Hero checks. Final Pot: $11.50. I remembered sbrugby telling, that one shouldnt cbet too often. Often you can just check the hand down when you have SD-Value. Villain is passive and has a fairly high WTS. Is this line acceptable? Or should I just cbet the flop and then check down? |

Re: [NL100 SH] AQo - Non-cb Board?
I think a check behind is ok here - this is exactly the kind of board that villains like to bluff c/r on because they know it's not likely to have hit you. Even then, I'll still c-bet maybe 60% of the time on this board.
When he checks the turn after you checked behind on the flop, it's very likely that he doesn't have anything. I'd fire about $8 or so, and if he calls that and checks the river, take the free showdown. I think you take it down most of the time on the turn on this kind of hand. |

Re: [NL100 SH] AQo - Non-cb Board?
Against this player I like the check on the flop a lot. You have a very marginal hand and there aren't many hands that you can value bet against and bluffing this type of player is out of the question with a hand as strong as A-high.
Nevertheless I'd throw out a bet on the turn for protection and value against draws. Players like this opponent will call a bet of two thirds of the pot on the turn with flush draws and even gut shots, so you're def. getting some value from his range. And a bet also protects you against some random outs he might hit on the river in case he holds something KJ. |
