Re: ***** November LC Thread *****
Hmm, I feel like against chronic limpers, you can pretty much use the SAGE pushing range from the BB. The part I hate is figuring out how to play spots where you or your opponent have < 8 BB and your opponent minraises.

Re: ***** November LC Thread *****
Probably your standard calling range and then some (if you don't have any major reads). Edit: For shoving, not calling (I hope it is obvious but just in case).
And beware of adjustments, after you shove a few of his limps, you may start to notice he limps less. Adjust accordingly to his next limp. |

Re: ***** November LC Thread *****
Thanks!
EDIT: Just to clarify, are you referring to spots when an opponent limps or spots where they minraise? |

[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] As long as both players are limiting their actions to pushing and folding, then SAGE is optimal. [/ QUOTE ] Sage is only optimal if both players are playing it, but it's *always* unexploitable, in that any deviation on your opponent's part will give you an advantage. If your opponent is deviating, then it's possible you could do better than SAGE, but you'd have to know exactly how he was deviating, which is pretty much impossible to know without seeing his cards. [ QUOTE ] What about against a 10-13BB limper? [/ QUOTE ] Sage is only accurate up to 8BBs, so that's an alien question. Even against an 8BB limper, SAGE still can't tell you what to do. [/ QUOTE ] SAGE is unexploitable. It is not always best, however. When you have a read on you opponent then you can make an exploitative play that deviates from a SAGE unexploitable play. Exploitative plays are always better than SAGE plays as long as your read on your opponent is correct. For example, if you have KK OTB and you know that your opponent will push from the BB if you limp or minraise with 8BB then it is better to exploit that tendancy than to push. Also, SAGE suggests equilibrium pushing/calling ranges. If your opponent is your standard lower stakes player then he probably pushes less than equilibrium and calls more than equilibrium. Therefore, you must tighten you calling and pushing ranges. |
