I live in the San Francisco Bay area and am about ready to move my limit hold'em game above 6/12. I'm curious as to what games are spread at what casinos around here; I've tried calling a few, but often can't understand the person on the other end of the phone, and all of their websites are woefully out of date. I'm specifically interested in any limit games from 8/16 to 20/40 at the following places:
1. Lucky Chances 2. Bay 101 3. Garden City 4. Oaks As an example of the type of info I'm looking for; I've heard the 9/18 doesn't go any more at Lucky Chances, but haven't been there to check it out. Thanks in advance, and sorry if this has been asked dozens of times before. |

Best choice imo is 15/30 at Artichoke Joe's. For 8/16, play it at Bay 101.

excellent resource: Bay Area PokerWiki Enjoy & GL [/ QUOTE ] Yeah this is where you need to start, without question. personally i think the bay 101 games are the hardest to beat consistently. AJ is questionable because of the implicit collusion factor, as 80% of the games regs play together constantly and will absolutely force you out of pots then check down as favors to eachother. Oaks is actually a very live 15/30 game if youre running good and/or everyone else is running bad. Last night I got completely destroyed there for 2 racks in about 4 hours when every possible draw against me came through on the river, but if my 68% favorite flops stood up, I would have gone home quite a bit richer. 20/40 at GC is an absolute joy if youve got the roll for it. People *will* gamble with you. If youre HU then youre probably feeling pretty good about that, but when youve got half the table calling, TPTK aint gonna cut it, so watch out and pick your spots. |

Grrr, I opened this because I thought it was an information thread. Bad thread title I might be heading up that way early next year though. "What kind of mid limit games are in the bay area?" would have been better, lol.

The BA PokerWiki is an excellent resource and a great place to start.
If you're just getting your feet wet, the 8/16 at Bay101 is pretty soft. I've played it a few times while waiting for a seat in a bigger game, and the play was very straightforward/mediocre. The Bay101 20/40 varies wildly by table. Games can run from juicy to meh. Look for a favorable non-prop ![]() My .02 cents. |

[/ QUOTE ] Are you the one that updated the AJ poker.wikia entry with that exact same information? It would be nice to get multiple views on this if this is true. I'm probably going to head to AJ's sometime this week or next week to check out the game for myself. Never been there before. |

It's a pretty truthful statement. And to be clear, this is "soft" collusion: The regulars in the 15/30 game do not collude explicitly, which would be exploitable, but when they are in the pot against one another, they will typically check it down or play soft, skipping obvious value bets and raises.
